Ok, there will be some laughter out there, but I am also sure I am not the only one wondering.... 😳

We took delivery in the water, we don't own a trailer so I have never needed to know this, but here goes:

Just where exactly is the "Drain Plug". The R-25 manual says to remove for trailering, and be sure to check it before floating, but I really do not see it labeled anywhere on any of the pictures. Is it the "Keel Drain" indicated on one of the diagrams?

The boat is being hauled for new bottom paint this week so it's time to know this very important fact.

Thanks!

On the side - on the starboard side at the bottom of the keel area (just below where the bilge pump sits). A square head bolt.

Thanks Mac

Once we knew where to look, it was easy.

I am putting in a spare parts requisition with Ranger Tugs and suggested that a spare drain plug would be a good thing, seeing as how if I misplace this little thing while my boat is in the yard getting proper new bottom paint, that would be a very bad thing!

We were very lucky to have scheduled our haul out weeks ago, before the massive storm that hit Virginia was even announced. The yard had our boat safely blocked and chained the stands. Six boats in our marina are sitting on the bottom now, and many other boats and docks were badly damaged. Our marina office and store will be bulldozed as the water damage was too bad.

The drain plugs are a standard item available at any boating store (brass I think). I have a orange plastic plug which has a keyring hole which I do not use for a plug. It is designed to be used as a spare plug. I use it for a ready spare but more importantly as a reminder on my boat key chain to tell me to put the plug in before launching.

All hardware stores and plumbing stores have this 1/2 inch brass or bronze plug. cheap, buy several. I keep one on the dash of my pickup so I never forget.

I put them in the door pocket of my truck along with an appropriate sized wrench .

I hang mine around my rear view mirror. It is always swinging around and reminding me that it is there. 😀
