I was attempting to drain the seawater cooling system on my Yanmar 3YM30AE diesel aboard my 2017 RT-21 (winterizing). I am having trouble with two of the three draining ports.
The engine manual addresses there different "draining" areas.
1. The seawater pump. That was easy. Done that.
2. Seawater Drain plug (on hose connected to seawater pump). I can't get the plug open. Seems like metal cap needs an allen wrench but I can't get any movement of that cap to allow the hose to drain.
3. Open seawater drain cocks on the heat exchanger. I don't even see a seawater drain cock on the exchanger. There is a valve with a plastic piece of tubing attached that looks like a drain but I don't see any way to open it up.
If ANY of this makes any sense to anyone I should would appreciate some input.
Thanks, Tom

Morning Tom,

Have you looked at the winterizing video on the Ranger site (under Media)? You can run antifreeze thru the seawater loop without going thru the draining process.

I agree with captain Nice. It will be much safer if you run antifreeze through the system. Just draining it could leave some water accumulation somewhere and then you may have a freeze up that could cause damage.

Capt. Nice and Knotflying,
Thanks for the information. I watched the video and boy it looks s a lot simpler than trying to open all the seacocks and drain plugs.
Really appreciate the help!
Tom
