Took delivery of our R21EC April 2017. Cricket is spending summers on Keuka Lake NY. So far we have 25 hours logged and have used 10 gallons of deisel. My wife and I love the boat. Lots of stares and question about the boat.

Last night I
did a routine check of the oil, etc. a look under the hood so to speak. I notice a lot of "black dots" on the engine and in the bilge. It did not look like oil, more like drive belt detritus.. any thoughts?

Are any of the hoses or belts rubbing on any parts of the engine ? There's a fair amount of engine movement when underway and it could be that hoses and/or belts are rubbing on the engine block or some of its ancillary components, and if so some small pieces of hose or belt shavings are being shed onto the engine and down onto the bilge surfaces.

Check all close tolerances between engine and hoses and drive belts. I would especially look at the forward drive belt to see if its cutting into any of the hoses that are nearby.

A good way to see if it is cutting or chaffing is by looking at the "spray" of debris. If the belt it cutting or getting cut usually you can trace it down by how it flings the black debris around. Also sometimes if the pulleys or not inline with one another it can cause the belt to chaff as it is spinning around. Feel free to email me some pictures if you would like.

Thanks for the responses, I'll check a little closer.
