The Garmin VHF has the ability to monitor two stations and also 3 at the same time. It is a great feature, but when I use it, it seems to not stay in the dual mode after a period of time. I have looked through the manual and can't seem to find a setting to prevent this. There does not even seem to be a mention that it will revert back to one channel after a period of being idle. Anyone have insight on this?

In my experience it should stay in dual mode until you make a call on one of the channels. For instance, if you are scanning 16 and 68 (a working channel to communicate with another boat) and you answer a call on 68, it will stop scanning. You have to put it back in dual mode. Channel 16 will be the default second channel.

I've never it had it stop scanning the assigned channels without my intervention.

Cheers,

Bruce

Okay, that may be what is happening. I thought once it was set to dual it would stay there until you exited from dual
