Greetings one and all,
When I went into the head of my boat after not being on board for six weeks or so, I lightly touched the electric flush button, and both that button and the one that adds extra water to the flush lighted up. All looked good to this point.

I pushed the flush button again, and it started the first part of the flush. Then it stopped, and the lights on both buttons went dark. I pushed the flush button again, and nothing happened. Tried it a third time, and zippo. Tried the extra-water button and nothing happened.

So I am forced to deal with an electric flush toilet that isn't working.

I am not much of a DIY guy so would appreciate any suggestions on how best to fish this.

Thanks, in advance, for any help you can provide.

Have you checked the fuses? Not sure where they are on your R29, actually not sure where they are on my R27 but I'd guess behind my mirror in the head.

It should be a 25 amp fuse located in the fuse panel behind the mirror in the head. Look for the labeling (head) 25 amp fuse. Red wire with a black tracer line 10 gauge wire. Inspect the fuse and replace then see if the motor operates.

Well, I pulled the fuse and replaced it with another 25 amp fuse. The switch lights went on and I hit the button. The first step in the flush occurred, and then it popped and the switch lights went dark. I replaced that fuse with another one, and the same thing happened.

Then I looked at the fuse that had been used and the two others ones that I just tried. Even though they were listed as 25-amp fuses, the two new fuses were about 2/3 the size of the original fuse, which has broader flanges. So I went on a search for the larger 25-amp fuse. It took me until the third store and 40 miles roundtrip along Highway 101 and Hood Canal, Washington to find the correct, larger fuse.

I got back, put in the larger fuse and the switch lights came on again. I thought I was home free. Hit the switch and the first step in the flush occurred once more. But then it, too, popped and the switch lights went dark. I tried another new larger fuse and the same thing happened.

So I am stuck, and can't figure out what to do next. Fortunately, I am at Pleasant Harbor Marina and can use their restroom facilities. That doesn't help in the middle of the night when this 69-year-old gets the urge and can't make it to/from the restroom in time.

Further thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

Mr. JtheK, can't help you with the electric problem your having but the problem your having until it gets fixed can be solved with a bucket! Since I'm old enough to be your cousin and then some I'm familiar with those nite time runs to the out house walking like a little geisha girl!
Good luck on the fix Bob

Your macerating flushing pump may be dying…. Drawing extra current. Causing the fuses to blow. Presuming it’s a Tecma head?

Wondering if something fell in the toilet and is clogging the macerator?

You may have a ground issue. I swapped out the batteries and inadvertently left one grounding cable off (sheesh there’s so many!). Flushing the head causes a huge current draw that my insufficiently grounded system couldn’t handle. Took me a bit to figure this one out BTW.
