Just inside the cave on our R-27 Classic, on the left, there's a cigarette lighter plug and a dual AC outlet. What do folks use these for? Also, closer to the opening to the cave, also on the left, there are two two-pronged holders of some sort, aligned vertically, about 10 inches apart. Any ideas about what they are for?

Michael & Susan,

We use the 120 volt outlet for a portable freezer. The 12 volt outlet is used for the freezer also. (dual voltage freezer). We also have a small clamp on 120v light. The 120volt outlet could also be used for a trouble light when working in the engine room. Oh, I also keep a 18v Makita charger in the cave and plug it into the 120v outlet when needed.

The two, two prong brackets are to hold the leg of the seat when it is folded up.

When we had Kismet R27 we used the 12v outlet for an internet router we had mounted in that area. Also used the 110 for a portable vacuum. Don't think we had the two pronged holder you mentioned.

Thanks for the responses. We figured a 12v ice chest/freezer was one likely use for the cigarette lighter outlet, although we'll probably use it for cell phone/tablet charging when on the hook (we carry two cell phones, two tablets, and a laptop, too much for the available space for charging at the helm and navigator's seat). Using the AC for charging the drill/driver when on shore power is a great idea, too. We don't have a seat (our cave is pure storage), so those prongs will probably make way for another fire extinguisher mount or something similar. Anyway, thanks for the ideas, and great cruising to all!

Oh boy..We use those outlets to charge/power our electric bikes, vacuum, drill, backup camera and a fan kept on the shelf above. Never enough outlets!

I use the 12V outlet to power/charge a Bose Bluetooth speaker that I set on the chart table facing forward. It is connected to the TV and I use it when I make up the dinette into a bed and watch TV.

I also use the 120V outlet for a work light when working on the engine or under the step, like when changing the impeller.

Don’t know if you know it or not, but there is also a 12V outlet in the port cockpit storage area, on the forward wall.
