I'm getting ready to change the oil in our Yanmar, on our R27 so I went about searching for where to buy. I like to use Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck full synthetic SAE 5W/40, which is sometimes difficult to find but one of the recommended oils for our engine. I'm making this post because of the good price I found it for and where to buy it from, for those getting ready for an engine oil change. At O'Reilly Auto Parts in Portland Oregon I found it for $24.99 per gallon. I'm assuming the price is good at all O'Reilly's so if you're in the market for a good price on Mobil 1 for your Yanmar take a look.

Hi Barry. If you have O'Reilly in Seattle give then a phone call, as this price may not be publicly advertised, as it was not in Portland. I only found it when I dropped into a local store. So did you order the 55 gallon drum??????

O'Reilly has the Mobile 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 in Southern Oregon for $30.99 a gallon. Hmmm.
But my local Walmart has it in stock for $26.83 a gallon.
Good timing as I just received a class action Netflix credit good only at Walmart (???) in the mail yesterday good for $12.32. Now I know what to buy using my Netflix credit. 😉

TSC stores has Rotella T6 on sale for $19.95 through the end of the year - just bought a push cart load of it
That's less than even Delo 400
Don't get hung up on brand advertising. These companies all have access to the the same Esters from the same chemical companies used to produce synthetic oil. While there may be a slight difference in the additive packages it is not five or ten or twenty dollars difference - more like twenty cents difference.
If it is a full synthetic and CJ4 compatible your engine will purr like a kitten on it no matter who's brand.

I buy my Rotella T6 at Walmart for $22.00/gallon.

Good price on the Rotella T6 Denny-O, I'll make a note for future purchases. When I was looking for oil I did see that Walmart had good pricing but I was not up for a 32 mile round trip to pick some up. One thing about Walmart, if you go to there online site you can find out if the store you want to go to has any inventory and if so you can buy it online to secure it before you make an unproductive trip only to find they don't have any.

There is presently a sale at Canadian Tire on Mobile 1 oils. Mobile1 0w-40 is apparently approved by BMW.

The operation manual for my 6BY2-260 lists acceptable engine oils. This is not one of them. However, the manual is from 2011 so this oil may not have been around then. Would this be an acceptable oil? Thanks in advance.

Perhaps I misread the manual. It lists: Mobil 1; Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel; and, Mobil 1 Spezial XS.
Maybe Mobil 1 0w-40 is included in one of these. I would be grateful if someone could let me know.

In my manual, for our 2012 RT Yanmar it states for temperature ranges from -4* F to 86* F you can use 0W-30 or 5W-30 and if the temperature ranges from 10*F to 104*F you can use 0W-40 or 5W-40 in all of the Mobil 1's you listed. Listed on page 43 of my Yanmar manual.

My thanks to Illusions and Kismet. I will scoot out and buy the 0W-40 synthetic before the sale ends. Best wishes from Canada's west coast.

Jim.
