Could someone please advise me on the engine pod for the R23? I opened it up and there is definitely water in it but I cannot see a pump inside at all and I also can’t find a switch for one or a fuse. It’s hard to reach in there but I got my phone in and took a bunch of photos and didn’t see anything. I have a 2017 R23. I can use a manual water pump to get water out but I’d love to use a bilge pump if there is indeed one inside the pod. Any other advice on helping the R23 get up on a plane better would be much appreciated.

I just had my bottom paint redone and went to pull the garboard plug from the pod since the painter saw on visible drip on it when he was showing me the final paint. Due to suspected electrolysis the plug was mushy and I had the sheer joy of drilling it out. It drained water for :45 from the 3/8" hole I drilled through the plug!
No wonder I was having planing and handling issues. Easily an extra hundred pounds off the back of my boat!?
I was hoping to get a little more efficiency and such with my new bottom paint, but getting the water out will probably be a game changer.
I have NO idea how to manage that water except by pulling the boat out and draining.
Is there an access port from inside the cockpit well? I guess I could use a fluid pump every so often since my boat stays in the water most of the year.water.png

But stupidly I remembered Bilge Pump #3. Manual switch by the Electrical main input. Bilge ain't working, but at least I know to look. Always learning the hard way. . .
Yes there is a port for the pod, dumbass (that's me I'm referring to). Oopsie.IMG_4652.jpegIMG_4653.jpeg

My 2017 does not have a bilge pump. It does have the upgraded, better sealing access hatch. I’ve heard that the better hatch and bilge pump came in newer models?

I believe that is correct. My ‘17 R23 doesn’t have a pump in the engine pod. I bought a battery powered pump on Amazon for about $15. Im also replacing that pie hole cover ($8, 8” cover with 6.5” opening)

Try checking the fuse. Thats the easiest solution to a pump that isn’t working. Yours looks super clean so motor probably isn’t jammed up. Also, wiring looks pretty intact and clean.

I estimated about 30 gallons in mine so maybe 250 pounds of dead weight? It felt like a different boat the next time I took it out! Went up on plane immediately.
