An E-1G(Z) zinc will fit the Cummins QSD engine after cooler zinc's brass plug as both zincs have have 3/8"-16 UNC threads!! However, the E-1G must be cut with a hacksaw to a length of ¾" excluding the threads (the "B" measurement in the below photo), as the E-1G's "B" length is 1" excluding the threads. The E-1G zinc is 1/16" less in diameter, BUT I would much rather pay $2.10 plus versus $160+ for a replacement zinc. You might have to change the zinc more often, but what is $2.10 in the scheme of things?. Note: Just buy the Zinc Only, not the brass plug because it will NOT fit the QSD. Hack sawing will take only half a minute due to the softness of zinc. Be sure to return your unopened Cummins zinc back to Cummins with a big smile on your face...

It looked obvious to me??? Plus shipping would only be $5.00 for about four of them. The next one is oil filters and Fram is quick to pick up on the Cummins line, I sent them an email regarding the QSD 2.0 and enquired about the filter medium to ensure it was compatible with the Cummins FleetGuard(?) line of filters. By the time I can buy my boat all these quirks will be resolved!!

I AM HAVING TROUBLE IDENTIFYING THE LOCATION OF THIS ZINC SO THAT I MIGHT REPLACE IT. CAN ANYONE HELP? Denny

I am really glad some folks are finding an alternative to these parts.
Before Andrew posted that Ranger is trying to help us out with pricing, I had placed an order with my Cummins Dealer.

$127.54 for one engine anode assembly (and I ordered two)
$109 for a serpentine belt,
and the most ridiculous,
$506 for the raw water impeller "Kit"

Oh, plus shipping.
Are they Kidding? I know it was April Fools Day but my credit card was hit for $906.00!!

And realize that every one of these parts is a Mercury part, not Cummins

Monika

Just a comment on the price of parts... Price similar parts for Deere or Cat, etc.... If there is an astronomical difference I wonder if a series of complaints of predatory pricing and interstate fraud, to the attorney general's office of your various states might stir up enough trouble to get Cummins to reconsider... The ol, 'squeaky wheel' theory...
