European battery monitor solution

Looks interesting, the info geek in me would love something like this. But adding sensors and modules is going to get real expensive fast.

I still like to keep it simple. Voltage = state of charge. After a night on the hook my voltage is usually 12.42. If if starts to consistently get lower then I have a problem with battery condition or a parasitic leak. Pretty simple and it has never failed me.

Knotflying, how do you get an accurate view on voltage in the morning? Do you turn off the house breaker and let the batteries sit for 30 mins before looking at the volts? I have so many loads such as fridge, propane solenoid, etc that looking at volts doesnt work as it underreads current volts?

The proper way is as you say, turn everything off and let it rest. However, I use history as my guide. When I awake in the morning a glance at my voltage meter usually shows 12.42 volts and that is without rest, hence most likely higher. If I see a change in that pattern then I know it is time to investigate. I do know what my normal load is while on the hook just from doing simple math calculations and know I have plenty of cpacity. In my opinion being in the ballpark is close enough for our needs.

nothing like experience 😀
