I just spent a good sum of money to have a certified Volvo Penta tech tell me he has no idea what's wrong.
2014 R31 CB D4 300
I'm on the hard and 2 weeks ago ran the engine to warm it up for my oil/ filter change. This last weekend when I went to start up to get pink antifreeze into the engine I got an EVC system message at the Volvo display on the helm....contact a Volvo tech.
After checking every connection, rebooting each helm station and talking with Kenny & Tim, I threw in the towel and called the closest shop (50 miles x 2 @ $2.50/ mile + $250.00 per hour) and after 5 hours was told by the tech that he had no idea what was wrong.
When he plugged in his diagnostic device he was unable to connect with the engine...no data available besides what we were able to read for codes on the helm display....he checked every one displayed.
Worrisome clue....we did find a small mouse nest under the engine cover plate, but no signs of any chewed wires.
We were able to force the engine to crank so I was able to get pink into the engine....so I have till spring to figure this out....fully winterized now.
BUT...
What's my next step?
