EXCESS RAINWATER IN COCKPIT OF R21-EC

My 2009 RC21-RC has a full cockpit enclosure but is taking large amounts of water into the cockpit during rainy weather.
I ran a garden hose onto the pilothouse roof and found that all of it drained into the cockpit via the water drain channels on both sides of the roof that empty directly into the cockpit. Is there a known fix for this? I used some clay to temporarily block the ends of the channels and the water spills onto the side deck and goes overboard.

I have a 25R and the roof is drained into the cockpit too. Wondering why it's not directed overboard before it gets to the cockpit.

We had the same problem with Equinox, and since we used the cockpit as extra storage/staging area it was a bit annoying at times. We had the gutters modified to drain to the sides like the newer Ranger Tugs. That worked really well for us.

To minimize the number of changes we just had a channel drilled on the side of the gunnel trough the hull and connected inside with PVC and then we had the gunnel closed at the end. We will post pictures later today.

Thanks for the information Jorge. I'm anxious to see your pictures. I sure don't want to make any modifications to the boat without knowing exactly what I'm doing. Here in the Kemah area of Galveston Bay there are no Rangers that I know of to look at. On my boat the water all goes into the bilge and makes the bilge pump work overtime( and drains the battery). Does your boat drain the water out of the cockpit since the freeboard is greater, or does it also go to the bilge?

Here is an earlier post I made that describes fully the change being discussed here. I've seen the result and it looks and works great!

I uploaded two pics of our modifications to our album. please let me know if you would like more information.

Our 21 had the cockpit under the waterline so all the water went to the bilge like yours. we also made some changes to the Bimini, we had king marine build external "flaps" to cover the areas where the panels zip together as there is a gap at the top and let water in. Unfortunately we could not find any pictures of that 🙁

The pictures are great. How did you block the end of the channel - it looks like a professional job that nobody would ever recognize as a modification.

We hired a fiberglass expert that was recommended by a really good friend. Any reputable boatyard with a fiberglass expert should be able to do it.
