So all the water proofing gaskets around my external LEDs on my '09 R25 has rotted. They are a foam-like rubbery material that doesn't survive the sun/heat well. They are shaped like a thick oval rubber band. Richard has tried, but the manufacturer will not sell the gasket's separately, so his advice is a silicon bead around the lights. Well there's a lot of them as they are used in trailering as well as mood lighting all around the boat, and I'd prefer to just replace the gaskets every few years. Any ideas on gaskets that you have tried that have worked? I'm thinking large rubber O-rings. Here's a picture of them. Imagine not selling the gaskets!

Have you thought about using butyl tape? I have the same problem and plan to try the tape. But that's way down the list.

I recently replaced some of my exterior LEDs due to a color preference. The old LEDs were siliconed in and were watertight after 4 years. They came off easily, the area cleaned up easily, and I used silicon to seal the new ones. It was all very fast. Since the factory apparently began siliconing the LEDs (I have a 2011 R29) and suggested it, I don't see a downside to running a quick bead around the light and calling it good.

Foam gaskets came with my new LEDs and seemed flimsy to begin with. I threw them away.
