Greetings,

I wonder if the 2022 R-29 CB comes with a galvanic isolator from the factory?

If not, it seems like that should be an early purchase as I will be keeping the boat in salt water and on shore power.

Thanks!

Talk to Andrew about having the factory install one during fabrication as an upgrade.

Our 2021 R-23 came with one standard.

Our 2021 R29S-LE did not come with galvanic isolator(s) but we had the local dealer add them and it was not a difficult process or too expensive.

Emerson, I added one to our C-28. I have a leak somewhere, either at the boat or at the dock and my new zincs lasted three weeks. Installed the Galvanic Isolator and now all is well. Very very easy to install. You just interrupt the Green 110 volt Ground wire from the shore-power cable. I extended my Ground a bit to allow placement of the Isolator where I wanted it. It should be as close to the shore-power inlet as possible. Very inexpensive gizmo. Bob/Bradenton

PS: I had been leaving the shore-power ON as well as the battery charger to power the fridge. That might have been part of my electrolysis issue. Now I leave them all OFF.

Bob, The reason for installing the isolator is so you can stay plugged into the shore power to leave the battery charger on and refrigerator. The isolator does nothing to a boat that is not plugged in. The main purpose of the isolator is to isolate your bonding ground system from the boat next to you. When you are plugged into shore power the green ground wire goes to the bonding strip and connects any other properly wired boat on the dock that is plugged in to shore power to it too. If a boat near your boat needs more anode protection it can consume your boats anodes. The isolator will block this from happening.

If you have an isolator and you are still consuming the anodes rapidly if plugged into shore power. There is a reason. Something is not right on board or on your dock. Keeping the boat disconnected from shore power is something you would do until you find the cause. A temporary fix. I would try to find the cause. This could be a safety item not a anode item. Just a thought!

Hello Emerson,

The 29CB don't come with a Galvanic Isolator from the factory. That's correct for the earlier install, especially if you will be connected to shore power in a hot marina.

Thanks,

Thanks everyone for chiming in. I just love how this community and the factory work together.

Merry Christmas everyone!
