Looks like the 23/25/27 all now have a 9k option for inverter powered air conditioning. I wonder what batteries they ended up going with? 9k should buy 900AH.

yeah would love to hear from the factory what the setup is.

1. batteries.
2. wiring setup for lithium: including: alternator and controller, updated charging schematics and parts,

Dockside air option is 4.5K. So an extra 4.5K for inverter powered.

Following this post and wondering if it's possible to upgrade an existing R23 that currently has just the dockside air.

Doesn't seem that the A/C unit itself would be different, would it?

Yup, Cant wait to see the specs and wiring too!

Lots of questions...

Full Lithium or a lead acid/lithium hybrid system?
Are they still using a separate starting and thruster battery?
What kind of charger and what type of charge profiles?
Are they going to change the solar controllers?
How do you fully charge lithiums via the alternator?

I think that the 9k is the batteries only, maybe the inverter/charger as well. The 27 has AC standard and the batteries still show as a 9k option. I see that the 23 shows the 4500 for the AC and then 9k for AC/inverter powered. I think you would need to check both boxes there. So 13,500.

You can upgrade the batteries. You’re AC may need the softstart installed to cut the start up amp draw. It also changes the cycle rate of the compressor. 300 bucks. I am having ours replaced with Battle Born 100Ah. They are the same footprint & same terminals as the Universal group 31’s. About 1k each. 6 of them weigh a lot less than the 4 AGM’s I have now. They have onboard battery management system so no need to change anything on the boat, but I will upgrade the tiny factory installed 20amp dockside charger to 60amps. I would go to 100 but with 30 amp service I’d be pushing things going that high. A 60 amp charger pulls 10 amps of my 30 amp shore power. Still need to run the AC and water heater dockside. The outboard starting battery won’t be swapped out.

I'm curious how long the outboard alternators will survive trying to charge that setup.
For inboard installations you generally have to replace the alternators, add a alternator protection device like the sterling disconnect and install a wakespeed alternator controller.
