Hi Andrew:

I'm in need of pulling my R25 (MY 2010) boat out of the water at the Edmonds Marina here in WA so I can replace zincs and examine hull condition etc. It's been in the water for almost 2 years and the trim tab zincs are gone -- time to replace zinc all round I suspect. I never did purchase a trailer for my boat as I keep it in water all year round.

Is there any way I can get a factory trailer to the Edmonds Marina for my R25 to allow me to haul the boat onto dry land.

Does factory have a rent-a-trailer program for locals ? Let me know... thanks. 🙂

Don't know about trailer rentals, but here's an alternative worth considering. We're in the water year-round at Elliott Bay Marina. We have a dive service which does routine underwater surveys of customer boats. When the zincs get below agreed upon tolerances, they simply replace them an invoice me. They also note any observations about hull conditions.

There is most likely a dive vendor working your marina. Worth checking out.

Cheers,

Bruce

[UPDATE: just read your other thread about Zincs. Be glad to refer you to our service if you head for Elliott Bay. But David's recommendation sounds good, and we'll certainly vouch for the food at Amy's!]

Bruce: I will be checking with my Edmonds marina today to see if they've changed their policy about allowing divers doing underwater zinc replacements. Thanks for your info. Your marina does fortunately allow pro-active policy for the underwater issues. I'll lodge my concerns to Edmonds if they have continued their no-diver activity policy.

Hello Barry,

We do not typically rent out trailers just because all of our stock trailers are full with boats that are preparing for tests or EZ loader has a few on consignment with us until they sale. Bruce's idea is the best which is a diver to handle all of your in water needs. Sorry for the inconvenience.

HI BARRY,, YOU PROBABLY DON'T WANT TO WAIT UNTILL SEPT TO HAUL OUT, BUT IF YOU DO MY RIG IS AVAILABLE AS SOON AS I PUT IN IN ANACORTES,, IN THE MEANTIME I KNOW A GUY WITH A B RAND NEW DODGE WHO MAY WEIGH IN ON THIS SUBJECT--- GOOD LUCK---STEVEANDTINA 😀 😀

Hi All who have posted here.

My Edmonds Marina allowed divers in for a full inspection of my R25's hull and under water zincs. All has been taken care of and I've arranged for the diver service to periodically check my R25 and perform hull repairs and zinc replacements as they see fit. This will give us some peace of mind as from my research the zincs deteriorate at a varying rate. The critical ones are the zincs on the bow/stern thrusters as they are so small.

Thanks to all for posting back -- much appreciated.

I'd do this..

Edmonds is having a 20% off sale on a sling and wash with the travelift through the end of June. The base rate for that is $160. (Although they might try and charge you for your swim step.. they work from the boat length you have registered at the marina.

Tell them to pressure wash the hull gently, and you can see what shape your bottom paint is in. Have your zincs and tools ready to go, and you will have plenty of time to change them yourself. It won't cost all that much more than having a diver do it, and you will get a good look at your hull. If you time this well, like over lunch, they are pretty flexible about the allowable "hang time" in the slings.

Laxey has been in the water for at least a year, right? So, it's definitely time.

I like the idea of seeing my hull at least once a year. So, I do this every year. Personally, I am changing my zincs twice a year... once with a diver, and once as I described above. You can estimate how often you need to do the same. Of course, I have a sailboat, but I guess it should be about the same for you. Some parts of Edmonds are known to be electrically active, and have electrolysis issues. I didn't notice anything when I was on D dock.

Good Luck!.. I'd help you, but I'm headed out of town for the rest of the month

Oh but what a cult to belong too......

Yes. .. you have a very nice Cult... very friendly... that's how you draw people in, I expect...
