Thanks to everyone who has responded to my previous posts. We are getting closer to getting our boat in the water but still have a few issues to tackle first. I'm curious if anyone has a good answer to this problem. I have removed all traces of the previous boat name, as is the tradition in renaming a boat, and will be putting the new name on after the christening ceremony Saturday. On the hull where the old lettering was remoed the gelcoat has not faded to the color of the surrounding hull. I've tried some mild hull cleaner and wax but can still easily see where the old numbers are against the rest of the hull. Any suggestions to get the nonfaded letters to better match the slightly faded hull?

thanks again,

Capt'n Karl

You may try a little polishing compound or a finishing polish. Do the best you can, it will be difficult to get it all out, but eventually whatever is exposed will also fade with time.

I am a big fan of prism cleaner and Mirage polish. You can find these products on line, and even, talk to the owner, Gerry. This is a very popular product in the PNW.

I agree with Nellie Too. Prism and Mirage make my boat look like new every year.

All the shining in the world will not make the non faded areas of pigment match the faded.
Time heals all wounds!
