I have a R27 O/B 2022 model

Helm switch panel has a rocker switch marked fan. This switch has a wire running to it
And lites up when activated but nothing happens. Anybody know what this switch is for?

It goes to a fan that is meant to put out air to defrost the starboard side front window and side window.

It’s noisy when it’s on.

I wouldn’t say it’s a defroster because there’s no heat. It’s just a blower/fan.

On my late 2021 R27model it had no wires attached to it and never turned on any fan. I ended up using it to control the relay for my 120v footwell heater we had added.

I recall talking with another 27 owner and they the switch did nothing in their boat either. Am I missing out on a defroster? We have a small Caframo 12volt one I plug in and stick to the dash when needed. Works pretty good.

I just realized my dash vents are tied into the air conditioning. So they probably don’t put the “defrost” fan on the boats with AC.

I would not say you’re missing out on a defroster. As loud as the fan is…

A small usb powered dc fan for port and starboard are a much better solution.

2020 27ob; the fan switch does nothing unless the A/C is running...

would like to find a hack to let it run without the A/C (and generator) running.

I asked during the factory experience, my 2021 R27OB LE fan switch does nothing. If I remember correctly, on the NW edition with the diesel heater running it would send warm air to the windows. I have a simple 12V fan clamped to my dash pointing at the windows...

I'm not sure how much heat would actually be generated by running the fan with the Webasto diesel heater running.
I have the fan, and it works. It's loud, but moves air. Here's a picture of the fan next to the Webasto heater.

(It's the white blower in this picture)
