We’ve had our new ‘22 R27OB for about 6 weeks now. When on shore power with the battery charger on, we’ve gotten the “Fault” message stated above. Another similar one will read “Voltage 16.9V Fault Limit 16.8V”.

We’ve done several tests where we leave both fridges on for a few days, running SOC down to 50-60% and then charge again. It seems like it takes about 24 hrs for it to hit the point of throwing this message. The dealer has sent info to the factory but I was just curious if anyone else has had this issue on the new Rangers with the lithium-ion batteries?

Thank you,
Danny

Is this fault showing up on the Battery Charger?

Our 27 came from factory with Balmor set for 100 ah batteries and resulted in a high voltage on monitor. Reset for 600 ah and it recalibrated and the high voltage went away.

It’s showing up on the Balmer display.

I read through the manual for the display yesterday and wondered about that. Do you have a ‘21 or ‘22 with the 4 battery bank instead of a generator? Stupid question, just getting to know everything on the boat; did you reset the charger or the monitor itself? And whichever you one you reset, we’re the directions in the manual?

Thank you very much. This is driving me crazy as that fault alert is unsettling.

Thank you! I just did it and seems to have worked great. I super appreciate it. I’d been sending pics of the monitor to my dealer for a couple of weeks…he had me turn the charger on, off, run fridges, etc. Yesterday he said the monitor was bad and that Ranger would be sending me a new one.

Your fix was much simpler. Thank you very much.

pretty sure this is caused by the standard issue PWM Morningstar solar controller. since I swapped to a a Victron MPPT I don't get this error any more on my Balmar smartgauge. I think its a result of two chargers competing and the morinstar being slow to react.

Group 30h Wut???

Working on boat today and much to my surprise the tech helping me says oh no you don’t have group 27‘s or 31s you have group 30 H!!

Group 27th and group 31s are hard enough to find but group 30 H hello?

What’s the difference between a group 30 H and a 31 an8 of an inch?

I think it’s time to do a Google search on group 30h I had no idea they were even in existence!

The dimensions of a Group 30H are close to that of a Group 31.

Group 30H: L=13.5 x W=6.81 x H=9.25
Group 31: L=13.0 x W=6.81 x H=9.44

It's most likely that you can swap out a group 30H with a group 31 without making any physical changes.
