Fell MOB device-cockpit helm

Over the winter I had a mechanic install a Fell MOB device. My vessel, a C28, has a second helm station in the cockpit. My reasoning was that in the event I was operating the boat alone and went overboard while operating the cockpit station I could be sure the engine would stop and disaster would not result. The installation went easy with cable from Volvo according to my mechanic. And the system operates as advertised killing the engine upon submersion of the 'fob' or if the fob gets too far away from the main helm while operating from the main helm. However, much to my disappointment and surprise, the system does not operate as intended IF the cockpit station is being operated and/or is active. In other words, I can operate the cockpit station and go overboard and engine is not killed. Has anyone successfully installed this equipment and have it operating correctly with the cockpit station?

I have the same boat with aft helm so am interested to hear the answer to this question.

This sounds like a wiring issue. You may want to call Fell and ask them about a two station install and see what they have to say.

Yeah so I have been in contact with FELL. They were optimistic on the phone but told me they needed to escalate the issue to their technical director. I would be floored if they have not encountered this situation before as it is not uncommon to have a second helm station. I will update when I hear back from them.

I have the Fell system (still in the box), but not the cable from Volvo, yet. What is the part number needed, and where did you get it, to wire it up? Thanks, I appreciate it.

I ordered from Marine Parts Express online and paid $46 for the cable. I had someone above my pay grade in marine electronics install so I cannot comment on the wiring. However, take note that I have not been able to get the system to kill engine IF the cockpit station is active which for me is the most pressing reason to install. I am waiting to get the vessel to Morehead City so Volvo dealer can have a look. I am hopeful there is a programming solution on the EVC. Good luck and let me know if I can help further.
