We have The Pug's Tug for a few weeks now. It's still a little chilly up here in the NE. But, the weather person promises a nice weekend. We are meeting up with our sailing buddies. We had sail boats for the last 20 years or so. I think I may top off the fuel tank on the way out. Do I have to "reset" something? The gauges keep track of the amount of fuel, the usage of fuel and all that. I never concerned myself with fuel. I feel comfortable looking at an analogue gauge. When it says 1/4 of a tank, get fuel. Now, it's on my wonderful 12" screen on the chart plotter. So, when I get fuel, will the gauge know I got fuel? Will it go up? Maybe I should read the manual? This power boat stuff is all new to me!

After filling up you have to input how many gallon. I find on my R-29 it is very accurate. Now I top off the tank within two gallons of being full. Now I don't have to worry about a boil over of the fuel.

Good luck

Enjoy...these are great boats for all weather overnighting. We'll be on the hook this weekend on Lake George....first time this Spring. I rely on the Yanmar fuel gauge... accurate only when the boat is not moving. I fill up at a quarter tank and it takes 80 gallons. A fuel recovery bottle that suction cups over the fuel vent catches any fuel that comes out. Have fun!

You need to originally set how many gallons your tank holds. Then fill it up. each time you get fuel you either enter how much fuel you purchased or if you fill it just hit the filled tank. If you are not diligent with entering the info then the readouts will be useless. As they say, " junk in, junk out."
Basically, the Garmin reads the fuel flow and then calculates everything. Your fuel gauge on the Garmin does not work off the float, but rather the calculation related to the fuel flow. This, I have found, is very accurate.
