Hey all!

Recently bought a 31CB and it came with a round magma mounted. I have the control vale regulator but am lacking the venturi tube. i also have 2 empty 1lb cannisters.

any basic tips to get going? simple plan appears to be buy 2 x 1lb gas cannisters and a venturi valve and get to work.

any broad tips welcome

thanks!

I've used Magma grills for years, at least 20. They tend to burn hot. Turn the valve down as low as it will go and put the meat along the outside. The internal parts tend to rust - even in a fresh water environment. You'll get maybe 5 years out of the internal parts but they can be replaced. Beware meat with a lot of fat - it will liquidate and run out the bottom, sometimes on fire.

Now for my soapbox: There is no way of disposing of the used canisters. You will end up with a dangerous collection of them in your garage. No one will recycle them. Your waste company doesn't want them in your garbage can. No one refills them.

I have a R29 Classic. It has two propane tanks in a propane locker on the swim platform. I've thought of running a feed line from them to the Magma. Magma has an adaptor for that.

thanks! and yes. i have 2 full propane tanks in the aft box, so was thinking of running a longer line there, even if just when used. the tank part is sort of sad. (just dispose)

I have the rectangular magma mounted on my cockpit rail, and I took a similar approach. I ran a longer LP line / adaptor to the locker on the swimstep, and I use the 2nd tank when grilling. The hose is permanently attached to the grill, there's a part you can buy for your unique grill direct from Magma (or online somewhere) that facilitate this. Works well, and I can just refill my 5lb canisters at the local uhaul for $6.

what parts are needed for that?

one of these? https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Regula ... ljaz10cnVl

There are 3 components you'll need:

1) a hose/regulator like the one you have above. I chose this one because it has a fill guage on it:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YHCVKW7/

2) an adaptor kit to connect the LP hose to the magma regulator you put in in place of the existing blue one, with a quick disconnect for easily removing the LP line from the grill regulator:

3) a replacement regulator from magma that you insert where your blue one that comes with the grill should go. This allows you to use an external tank. You need to make sure you find the right one for your grill on the magma website, there are several. The one i'm linking to is to my specific newport infrared rectangular grill.

That should do it and you'll be good to go for summer grilling season. 🙂

wow, thanks! one question, the 2nd and 3rd link are the same ;-)
