Hi,

As you are probably aware with boats, there are always plenty of little annoying buzzes and rattles to chase down and silence. Depending on the throttle setting and the temperature and the state of your karma, things will go in and out of resonance. I recently found a major noise source on our 2011 R-27. It was an easy fix and the boat was much quieter as a result.

I had the engine idling and was poking around in the starboard cockpit cabinet. It turned out that the water heater was vibrating against the floor. There was a metal clamp that held the heater in place, but it did not clamp the heater tightly. I simply shoved a wedge underneath the rear edge of the heater and the rattle went away.

We took the boat out for a test run, up to full throttle, and the noise reduction was impressive.

Happy boating,
Brendan
