Hi Fellow Rangers,
We have a 2 year old R-31 Sedan. All of our aft deck foam decking is starting to come unglued. Has anyone else experiencing this issue?
Thanks,
Bobby Singer

We have had ours for 3+ years (on our R31) with no issues. Most of the issues I have seen from others have been with DIY installations (ours was done by the manufacturer, Raptor).

Yes, that looks familiar. Ours is Raptor decking. We are the second owner of the boat and the install might have been DIY. Not sure. Everything was fine until we had some unusual hot weather and then I noticed it starting to bubble up, then come unglued.

I’ve used the heaviest 3M adhesive in a spray can to keep the edges down with limited success. It might be time for a complete redo, but I’m not sure I will go with Raptor Decking. On the other hand, they have the C28 pattern template all ready to go.

I had a section come up on our swim platform. It was in an area that gets wet when ever we go fast so I wanted to use something waterproof. I used E6000 glue and it has not peeled off at all since. My worry is someday I may need to remove it and that might be a nightmare, but that's a problem for future me.

Some folks love the foam decking but a significant number of people have problems with it after a year or more. There was enough bad vibes that we have avoided foam decking on all our boats.
Instead we found some high quality outdoor carpeting, cut it to the shapes we wanted and had the edges custom bound. The carpet is held in place with some Velcro tabs at the corners and edges. All in all it was about 1/4 the cost of foam decking. And, it doesn’t stain!

I just finished today, with the starboard lazerett hatch decking. About a third of it had come loose on the fwd end. It was easy to rip it the rest of the way off. Glue had failed. I use acetone and a soft ss wire brush to clean old glue off hatch, pretty easy and quick job. Took the decking home and used a 4 inch razor from a box cutter, to scrape glue off cover. Also used acetone and scraper on cover. It cleaned up pretty good. Glued it back down with Gorrilla contact adhesive ultimate..It is definitely stuck well, whether it holds up well shall see.

I installed Raptor deck 5 years ago. I've had no problems at all with the decking detaching from the deck.

i hate my raptor decking.

We actually are working with inhabit mats to create a snap in option that is pressure washable. Ive been using them in our vans for years. just finished measuring my r23 interior for it, and exterior is next
