free hanging wire on yanmar 110

This is a really dumb question so here goes. On the yanmar 4jh4-hte 110 hp engine on the r25,I was changing oil and noticed on the starboard side near the rear of the engine between the oil filter and rear, a foot long wire with a 2 prong receptor was hanging free down the side from near the top stern of the engine down the starboard side almost to where the oil pan is. I could not find anywhere where it would connect to any wire connector or connector on the engine. Anyone know if this small thin cable connects to anything or just an afterthought from the Mfg and does not connect to anything? Has me completely flustered.

Probably a block heater. But should be a 3-prong that leads into a screw-in freeze plug adapter on your block.
All my Yanmar's have them but 100 % of my Yanmar's are non-marine!

It may be the connector to the fuel/water separator on the forward, starboard side of the engine? Maybe if you upload a picture it would help. I have a 125HP and the are very similar to the 110HPs.

I believe the 110 was used in a sail drive configuration. There is a water sensor used in this application.The location of the plug and harness it may be the connector for the sensor. I looked in a Yanmar manual and the sail drive plug would have wire colors yellow/green and black. If it is I would use a wire tie and attach it to existing wire loom to keep it protected from water and corrosion. Any wires used or not that are connected to the electrical system should be treated as active.
