Fresh Water Pump Fuses

I have a 2018 R29S. It has a thirst for freshwater pump fuses. I have had the boat since April and I have gone through 8 or 10 of them. It has 10 amp fuses. Exactly what shows in the fuse layout sheet.
I have looked for loose connections as best I can and didn't see any. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to when they blow either. Sometimes it is as soon as you open a valve, sometimes it shuts off midstream. Sometimes it will blow two within a couple minutes and sometimes we get the whole weekend (or longer) without an issue. The only pattern that I can see is that it seems to be getting more often. This last weekend we blew 3 of them....
I don't think we use the pump in such a way to be overly demanding of it.

Has anyone else had this issue??

I would have you check the strainer that is on the side of the pump itself. The tank manufacture and ourselves try and get as much shavings out of the tank before installing but some stays in the tank. What happens is it will cause the pump to work harder at passing water. Check that and let me know, if your still having issues maybe we can arrange a time for me or someone else come and look at it for you. Email is best as I get it sooner.

Hello Rocky,

Right around the time we delivered your boat we had recently changed to a different fresh water pump. The new pump actually requires a 15A fuse, rather than the the 10A that the old pump required. The ‘older’ style pump had red plastic fittings, whereas the ‘new’ pumps are blue. If youre able to email me a picture of the water pump on your boat, I will verify which one you have. Good news is that it’s an easy fix by simply changing the fuse to a 15A on the fuse block.

It’s a good idea to perform the checks Kevin listed above to make sure debris in the strainer isn’t adding to the issue.

Thanks guys! I did check the strainer last weekend and it was clean. I'll take a look at the color of the connectors when I get to the boat next.
As it worked out, I had run out of 10a fuses on the boat and installed a 15 and had no more issues last weekend. and after reading Tim's comment (and Ivan offline) I may have already fixed it, accidentally. 😀

Be sure you do check the color of the connections as suggested. You want to be using the correct fuse so that you do not mask some other issue like a short in the wire and then have a bigger issue.

To close this loop....I did look at the pump. It does have the blue fittings and Tim confirmed that it is the new style and requires a 15a fuse. I have had no issues since changing to the 15a fuse. Thanks everyone.
