The freshwater pump has been randomly turning on for roughly 1 second every now and then. I found it strange but didn't really investigate.

Today we turned on the faucet and the pump sped up faster than normal and then blew the fuse. We replaced the fuse and it did the exact same thing.

We replaced it a third time and recorded the sound. We turned off the switch before it blew each time. You can view the video and sound below.

Any ideas what might be causing this? I just cleaned the strainer a few weeks ago and just checked again (which is very difficult with the tank full btw). We are using a 10 amp fuse.

Hello,

When the pump cycles that would indicate that there is a leak in the water system and is re-priming when it cycles. Also I have replaced pumps after not finding a leak and there was an issue with the pump internally. The fact the fuse blows after a little bit might indicate the pump is failing or failed. I would check for leaks and if none are found I would then look at replacing the pump. Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Kevin Lamont

Thanks for the reply, Kevin.

I ended up finding a small leak by the exit valve from the water tank itself (a drop every 10 or so seconds). I used silicone tape as a quick fix. The pump seems to be completely busted/burned out. When I flip the water gauge switch, the gauge works but nothing from the pump when we open the faucets.

Ended up purchasing this one from Amazon.

UPDATE:

I replaced the water pump and that works great now.

The water leak by the valve exiting the water tank is not fixed. The tape did not work and I am still experiencing a leak there. I need to replace the exit valve and/or blue tube connection to that valve.

Any ideas on where I can find replacement parts for this valve?

I discovered this hole at the back of the bilge area when filming with my iPhone. Is this a hole/drain or is it simply black stain?

If it is a drain into the bilge, what drains into this hole? I believe this is where the water from the leak I am trying to find is coming from and knowing what drains into it can help me narrow it down (maybe...).

UPDATE:

I ended up replacing this with the same valve from Fisheries Supply.

I am also assuming that picture above is a drain into the bilge area. I would love it if someone can confirm this is crorect.

I had the same issue and now it’s stopped, every minute. Gradually became less often, over a few days, to not at all.
