Just posting a note in case it has slipped anyone’s periodic maintenance mind; there is a strainer located on the fresh water pump and I never thought of cleaning that, so I did it today. There was a lot of plastic filings and crud in there. Never thought to check it in the past, especially since the boat was new and most likely the debris from manufacturing would be in there.

Can you explain where this fresh water pump is located and how one gains access to it... any photos would be helpful. Thanks.

With different models and changes in design from year to year the short answer is, turn on the faucet and follow the sound and that will be the fresh water pump.

Good advice from sleepy boat. Follow the sound. The strainer is under the clear plastic dome unscrew it and the screen can be removed and cleaned.

Good insight!! I just bought a 2011 R-27 and starting to do some PM checks. Along with the fresh water pump strainer, is there a way to drain the fresh water tank without using the pump?

On an R25 the fresh water pump is under your feet where you stand at the helm.

A search of the archives will bring up discussions of removing, service, the pump.

I have not heard of or figured out a way to drain the tank other than the pump. I believe the tank is under the galley floor in the center of the boat, so access to the bottom for a gravity drain is not accessible. If anyone else has better information, please chime in.
