I have a need to have clean, fresh water, available on the deck of my 2014 R27. I need the water for rinsing cameras, washing of scuba equipment, cleaning my ROV, etc. The water line currently on the deck delivers water straight out of the ocean (or whatever other body of water I happen to be in) so that doesn't work.

At the moment, I push the faucet line from the sink in the head out the porthole and use that but the system is clunky at best and requires two people to use effectively.

Has anyone routed the fresh water line from the fresh water tank to an outside spigot on their R27? If so, how did you do it? Where did you tie into the existing plumbing?

Any experience and/or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Scott,

Your best bet would be to tap into one of the PEX lines. I would recommend tapping into the blue (cold) side. To do this, you would need to depressurize the fresh water system by leaving all of the faucets on with the fresh water pump off until there is little to no pressurized water coming out of the faucets.

Next you will need to find a blue PEX plastic water line (they are ran to all of the faucets) and tap in using a threaded tee. Here is an example: https://www.freshwatersystems.com/colle ... p=0&is_v=1

These are push fittings, meaning that the hose just need to be firmly pushed into the fitting. You will hear two clicks before the hose in fully seated. You can then connect a water hose or any type of water line from here. Please keep in mind that there are various sizes and types of threads with these tees, you can use whatever suits your installation the best. Also keep in mind that this will always be pressurized with your fresh water pump. There are also fittings with built in shut off switches. Scott, I don't know if Santa Cruz has any freezing weather... probably not... but if so, after a Tee Pex fitting into existing coldwater line and a 90, I would suggest Pex gate valve to shut off water past your cabin bulkhead.

Good luck with your project!

May I suggest keeping the valve inside the deck house where there is heat as opposed to outside subject to freezing.

Scott, I was looking at the same for my R-21, though I only carry 10 gal of fresh water, it would be great to wash the salt from fishing equipment and other items. I was looking at a camper outside hose box to install in the cockpit area, then tap into the sink water system. I'm not worried about freezing as I blow out the water system every winter. Most RV dealers carry a variety and at a lot cheaper price than the cockpit shower systems sold at marine dealers.
Let us know how your project goes. Bob

We spent $20 on a longer hose and shower head with a shutoff valve at the hand set. We shower in the cockpit rather than the gymnastics required to do so in the head. As mentioned in the OP we just pass it out through the port hole but with the ability to shut it off at the handset it's not a two person job to take a shower. That's all we did and it works like a champ.

Scott,
Check out D&W inc., Spray-Port, RV Exterior hose hookup. They have various sizes and colors,
I'll be ordering the 2 3/4" White to install in my boat. My plan is to install under back window on cabin exterior, the sink is on other side, so plumbing will be easy. The cabin door slides to port and will cover hose connection when open, this will ensure that cabin door is closed during use. Will post pictures in album when complete, might be a few weeks due to social distancing on my tractor this spring!
Since the R-21 has no hot water system this was a better option for me.
Good luck! Bob

Thank you everyone. As always Tugnuts give excellent advice. Dan, I went with your solution simply because it is easy, inexpensive, and didn't require any plumbing. Thanks! Now my dive gear gets properly rinsed at the end of the dive instead fo when I get home.
