Doing a little research here. I used to own a gas inboard and freshwater cooling is considered important to those of us that exclusively use our boats in the ocean.
It seems clear that the older diesel engines available in the Ranger Tug 25 models, Yanmar and Cummins did not have freshwater cooling (Am I wrong?). Not sure if adding freshwater cooling is/was an option?
As for the Volvo D3-150 . A friend has a D3-150 in his boat (with a Volvo outdrive) and he definitely has freshwater cooling. Is freshwater cooling standard or an option on Ranger Tugs with the Volvo diesel?
Is it out of line to ask why the switch from Yanmar to Volvo? I don't know enough to know which, if ever given a choice, to prefer, both are very reputable manufacturers IMHO.
Any information would be appreciated.
