Don't forget about the Fuel Tax refund we (at least in WA) are eligible for... http://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistration/ftrefunds.html.

Also read below as this says the refund is around $0.20/gallon... so if you're using say 500 gallons/year this can mount up, and this s case some $100/year... or essentially lower the diesel per gallon cost from $4.11 (at Edmonds) to $3.91.

Re: http://www.rbaw.org/marinefueltax.html
According to the Department of Licensing (DOL), boaters who file a claim can receive a partial refund of the 37.5¢ tax they paid at the fuel dock. The difference between the 37.5¢ per gallon paid and the 20¢ per gallon refund is made up of: 1) State sales tax, and 2) a penny per gallon contribution to the Coastal Protection Fund. The DOL has devised an "Average Cost" to simplify the process which gives the boater a flat sales tax rate of approximately 17.5¢ per gallon.

I forgot to mention that some Marinas offer fuel discounts if the boater is trained for pumping and using the fuel facility and gets a 'swipe card' for the pumps. At my Edmonds marina this saves me another $0.10 per gallon.

So with the tax refund and local Marina discount I can save $0.30/gallon -- meaning some $22.50 is saved for a full tank of fuel for our R25.

Make sure to enquire at your local Marina(s) to see if they offer similar fuel discounting programs.

There is a fuel tax refund available in Virginia also.
