Ladybug, Too dumped us two or three times at the end of the summer so we took her to the "Yanmar Doctor" in Elberta, Alabama, Charlie's Diesel and Marine. Today we launched at Barber's Marina on the ICW and headed home with Charlie on board. We were running 20 mph and burning 10.4 gph (indicated) and we were really enjoying the run. The earlier problem had been traced to the Rail Pressure Sensor and we "thought" we had the problem solved. As we approached a no wake zone we throttled back and encountered the same symptoms so we limped to a safe area and kept her at idle and started through all the normal suspects. We pulled the port engine cover and the minute he touched the Rail Pressure Sensor connector the engine smoothed out and fuel pressure returned to normal ranges. We had an OBD2 scanner connected to the K-line. We cleared the no wake and got back up on plane and ran another 45 minutes. As we eased back to idle the engine started running rough again. Pushing on the connector restored normal operation and we docked without further incident. Charlie carefully removed the "Deutsch" connector and we could not see anything wrong with the pins or the connector. We used some anti corrosion paste and cleaned the connector and sensor pins and are hoping that cures it. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so what was the resolution?

We did see several pods of Dolphins as the water is very clear this time of year!

We have been experiencing something very similar, engine goes into "limp mode", wher ethe engine wont build boost and the "check engine" alarm is displayed.
We have the i5601e unit with the 3.00 version firmware that will not display alarm/error codes.
If this issue has been resolved via the fuel rail sensor or if anyone can direct me how to update the firmware in the Yanmar i5601e Id appreciate it!

Along those same lines I see my PC report, periodically, that there is an error on the USB port that my Ipad is usually plugged into. Barely touching the the plug will cause the message to go away, until the next time

Based on your report it is likely they changed the sensor, which temporarily cleared the problem, when the actual fault is in the mating plug - or a cracked wire in the harness right at the plug.
Given your situation I would be strongly tempted to buy a new plug and replace the one on the engine harness.
As far as my PC, it is less urgent than being stranded on the water. I will replace the plug when it finally quits.

Where is this sensor and plug? Thanks.

I have the 6BY2-260 parts catalog, if you have it its on figure 35 item #3.
If you don't have the parts catalog pm me, I'll email it to you.
