First year winterizing my 2017 31CB. I'm going to fill the fuel tank prior to leaving for about 3-4 months on the hard. Is there a particular stabilizer that is recommend? And, should I be adding a fuel additive/stabilizer each time I refill? We are in Baltimore, MD.
Thanks,
Bobby P.

Your question has many opinions. The opinions will range from no you don't need to use an additive at all to you should add every time you fill up. My opinion is at least add it to the tank for the off season at last fill up and make sure to run the engine to disperse it through the complete fuel system. I do add fuel conditioner every time I fill up the tank. I have done this since purchasing the boat. I use PRI-D fuel conditioner. This is one of many good products on the market. Do your own research by talking to others, what the Volvo service facility recommends, and internet research to find what product is best for your application.

As Brian said there are many choices. The information can be overwhelming. I use a Biobar biocide and a lubricity enhancer (I forget the company’s name). This is based on my research of multiple products. Information I found most useful was from two articles by Steve D’Antonio on fuel additives. He has an emagazine on his website. The fuel articles are from 2016. https://stevedmarineconsulting.com/
Hope this help.

Our 2019 Ranger 31 came with a container of STANADYNE Diesel fuel additive. We also used this excellent product for 13 years on our previous boat. It kept the old Volvo MD 22 engine running perfectly.

This is my first year owning a boat with a diesel.
However, my 2006 1 ton diesel GM PU has had fuel stabilizer added at every fill since new and it has 234,000 miles on it.
I use Howe's Lubricator and anti-gel.
Since the change to ULSD, we need more lubricity.
It gets cold here in Utah in the winter.
