R-29 CB on order
I have a Ranger Tug R29 CB. Does anyone happen to know the plug size (NPT size) on the plugs that sits on the fuel tank? I am looking at buying a fuel pickup for it but I don't have the plug near by to measure.

Thanks,
Patrik

Thanks. My R29 CB might be a bit different. I had a chance to measure it today and its outside diameter is 0.79-0.805" so it looks like a 1/2" NPT 14 threads per inch. Not sure why that varies between boats.

I was using the tank drawing for my answer. This is a drawing for my previously owned 2016 C26. This was the tank Manufacture that Fluid Motion used then and as far as I knew still used.

The standard fuel pick-up used in plastic tanks is 3/8 MNPT threads into the tank and 1/4" FNPT threads. 3/8 fuel line and fuel tank pickups are usually sized at 3/8" up to 500 hp gas engines. Gas engines burn average 1gallon per hour to make 12HP. Diesel engines burn less fuel than Gas @ 1 gallon per hour to make 18hp. The 3/8 MNPT = 3/8 pickup tube. The female thread for the pick up tube is 1/4" and a 1/4"MNPT barb fitting is threaded into it with a 3/8" barb to except a 3/8" hose. The 3/8 will allow more than enough fuel to pass through.

I have no idea either why a R29 would have a 1/2" pick-up. Below is a photo of the pickup tube I removed from the C26. It is a 3/8" MNPT.

The measurement does not lie. If you measured a thread diameter of .80 that is small dia. for a 1/2"/ 14 NPT. but to large for 3/8 /18 NPT. ??
