Furuno LS-6100

Does anyone have any experience with the Furuno LS-6100 Depth Sounder? I am looking for something to put on my 18 that I can interface with the Garmin 546s. I do not have a transducer hooked to the Garmin. I have a older Hummingbird unit that has recently decided that after 10 plus years of service it's time is up. With the miracle of Nema 0183 I can interface the Garmin and Furuno. I can then use the Garmin for the plotter only and show data and sonar on the Furuno. I also need to "hang" the Furuno and it has brackets that will allow it to mount from above.

Thoughts anyone???

If you have to purchase a transducer, make sure that it will interface without some fancy piece of electronics. (like an interface )
Maybe?? A Garman transducer can be wired directly to the chart plotter w/o an interface? Ask the tech guy at the store. Those interface boxes can cost $300 - $400.
