I've contacted the dealer concerning the Fusion not being able to bring in AM and was advised that it should-perhaps there was a loose connection. I located the antenna outlet with the Motorola connector. Connected to it was a foot long copper wire finished with an eye. There was no loose connection. Presumably, more is required to complete the installation and make the Fusion fully functional?

My AM and FM worked from the factory without any problems. Not at much distance until I split my VHF antenna to also supply the radio. To connect XM radio the factory sent out and new adapter to the XM receiver and they also sent a flash drive with a software update on it. Everything connected easily once I pulled the radio for access to the wiring in the back of the radio. Four screws and easy to do.
I would get back with them and let them know that it is not a lose connection. They were very helpful on my end with just communication by email.

Hello Doug,

I had trouble with FM reception with the Fusion radio/stereo in my 21EC. I ordered the VHF/FM signal splitter with intention of using the VHF antenna for FM as well. Then, as I was beginning to install the splitter, I found the short white wire you mention that the factory connected to the antenna jack. The one with the eye on the end that was connected to NOTHING. Then, I remembered something I read on C-Brats several years ago about how a guy used his window frames as a radio antenna. So, I pulled the existing antenna wire up and attached it to the side window using one of the window frame screws. Easy. Then, I made little 3 inch "jumper" wires with eyes on each end with which to connect each window frame to the next. Now, my FM reception is GREAT. I sent back the Shakespeare signal splitter. I haven't tried the AM radio, so I can't comment on whether there is improved performance on that band.

Maybe that would help you.

Merry Christmas!

Thank you all for your inputs. I've also had a word with Fusion and they advise mounting a Shakespeare 4350 AM/FM antenna. This seems extreme ,hopefully it won't come to that.

All The Best In The New Year,

I tried the window frame procedure and although it would pull in a couple more FM stations near the marina, it still would not pick up the 100k watt mega stations 30 miles away in Atlanta, and nothing on AM.

We had a 4350 installed and was able to pick up quite a few Canadian stations from BC and Alberta on AM while anchored up in Walsh Cove. It was nice to know we had a reliable backup weather/information source onboard.
