Just bought a 2018 R-31 CB and noticed there is no provision for trash storage in the galley/salon area. Wondering how other owners have solved this issue?

On our R29 we use a small trash can that can be mounted on the cupboard door by the sink. We then move it under the table when not in use. Its very small so we keep a larger trash bag either in the cave or the cockpit. Not elegant but works. The one we bought looks out of stock, but if you go here and look at pictures in the review it shows the one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0995F2MGB/ref=emc_b_5_t?th=1

On our R31 we use a caddy can (Amazon) as well as a small trash basket under the galley table.

Similar to Jeffrey, a SimpleHuman (IIRC) countertop small trash can, plus a bag under the table when needed. The hardest part is getting small enough trash bags for the small can. Turns out that some XL dog waste bags work great.

We have a taller one with an auto opener on top and it sits in the cave by the mid berth. If we have others sleeping on board we put it on cockpit.

On our R31, we use - and love - the free-standing, polyester BBTO containers, which are easy to find, including on Amazon:

We bought a two-pack, one large(ish) that is great for the cockpit, one small (good fit for galley). Both are collapsible so they are easy to tuck away when not in use. They're also inexpensive, which is nice.

Cheers!

May I recommend you look up (leave no trace) it is what back country horseman use in the wilderness and is a excellent theory for keeping trash to a minimum on your boat! With a little pre planning your garbage should fit in a 3 gallon bucket for a weeks worth of cruising. All meals should be pre planed with minimal waste, beverage containers can be smashed, boxes and other containers should be left in the dumpster on the pier and items kept in zip-lock bags for future use. I use a small garbage bag by the helm station and transfer it to a bucket in the cockpit locker. While I only have a R-21, a R-31 should have more than enough space for garbage management. Bob

We removed the wine cooler (wasn't working). This turns out to be a perfect spot for a trash can and can store recycling behind. We anchor out mostly, so we didn't mind losing the extra drain of the wine cooler.
Good luck!

We could not justify the wine cooler and it's power needs on our 2013 R29. It now sits in the garage. I built a 8" by 22" drawer with soft close glides and installed it in the opening. I painted the drawer front to match the surrounding fiberglass. The drawer holds two cans (grocery bag size) with room left over for a few wine bottles. We leave it partially open while cooking for easy access. . To chill the wine we drop it over the side in a mesh bag about a hour before dinner.

We use a cat litter sized plastic pail bungled to the table leg.
Out of sight but at hand for prep, and secured.

We put a pair of 3m hooks in front of sink, between 2 cabinets and hook a grocery bag there on our 31. Works very well and bags are plentiful.
