Subject: Gangway clearance for R-25SC/R-27 vs. R-23 & R-27 OBs
One thing that always bugged me about my R-25 Classic was the fact the port side double wide Nav seat jutted out in the gangway space and was always catching my waist and sometimes my belt buckle if going sideways past another person as I entered to the V-berth area. This same issue is present for the R-25SC and the R-27 today.
However, for the new R-23 and new 2018 R-27 models this is no longer the case. For the R-23 the double wide Nav seat on port side is trimmed down to not jut out into the gangway and for the new 2018 R-27 this is certainly not an issue at all as the port side Nav seat is now a single person seat with the helm seat now being double wide and is not encroaching into the gangway either.
Yes, a minor irritant at best, but nonetheless I see that Ranger Tugs designer either recognized this or it simply fell out as a bonus to this person.
