I have a 2014 Ranger tug 25SC. I am wanting to be able to program routes on a tablet with active captain and then transfer the data to my Garmin on board, so I can utilize the auto pilot.

Is this even possible?

If so, can anyone explain how to accomplish this?

Thank you in advance,

Bob.

I have a Garmin 7215 on my 2015 R31-CB and was told by Garmin that Acrtive Captain is not compatible with my older system.

Rats. That is what I was afraid of. I was wondering if there was any system I could use to plot a course at home then use once trailered to the put in - often times 1500 miles or so away.

Thank you for the reply.

Bob.

Garmin generally quits support for their products after 5 years. I have the 7212 also and was told by Garmin there is no longer any type of updates, whether through a hard copy thumb drive or download, available for this unit back in 2021.
I recently went to Raymarine but I'm not sure if they support anything after "X" amount of years.
Garmin offered to sell me a new unit for $2,100.00.
A car company is forced to support a vehicle with parts availability for 20 years, (I worked in the industry),yet the "manufacturers " of software???? Do not support a "program " after 5 years???
Time to move to a user based system that uses free data generated by our tax dollars and quit buying expensive throwaway units. Just MHO.

Bob,

Not sure if you'll be able to find a copy bouncing around anywhere, but for the 72xx generation of displays Garmin did used to have a PC program that does exactly what you want. The program is called HomePort, and while it's no longer supported (neither is your mfd) it still works flawlessly on the copy I have and use myself. Doesn't work with Mac though.

Simply insert your chart card and import the chart files to the software and now you have all your charts/waypoints/routes on the computer and can plot or plan new/additional. Then save the new waypoints/routes data to a blank card and put it in the 72xx and import.
