Periodically when I open up my Garmin 7215 to plot a course, I only get two options - GO TO and ROUTE TO. What i want is GUIDE TO, but sometimes it is not an option. Any ideas on why this is happening sporadically?? Thanks in advance.

I believe the “Guide To” option is only available when using the Garmin Bluewater G3 map on the 72x series of Chartplotter. Newer Chartplotters and map files do not have the same limitation. One of a few things maybe happening. First, reinsert your map memory card, it may just be loose. Second, if you travel outside the range of your map card the “Guide To” option will dissapear. For example, I have two G3 Cards, one for for the Pacific NW including BC and one for SE Alaska. The chartplotter has a G2 map built in that covers nearly all, if not all, of the US and Canada. If I cross from BC to SE Alaska without changing the card to the SE Alaska version I lose the “Guide To” option. Third, go into your configuration and make sure the Garmin GPS antenna is selected as your GPS source it is not set to Auto. If it set to Auto sometimes it grabs the wrong device.

This problem happens on&off in Puget Sound, where our boat is. I will try removing and re inserting the memory card first.
