Can I reconfigure the Garmin 7612 display of the Garmin 600 AIS activated target data? On previous boats with RayMarine chartplotters an active AIS target would display the vessel’s Closest Point of Approach and Time to Closest Aproach. Just what I wanted. While Garmin calculates this data, it’s buried down several layers not displayed on the current chart. The information displayed includes the vessel’s heading and speed. To the few math savants in the world perhaps that’s sufficient, but to the rest of us. Can the display be changed?

It is definitely possible, at least on the radar screen (which is where I always look for that). It shows a dotted line for the heading and time and location for closest arrival: https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/web...UID-C62AB3F6-F221-4BDB-9401-DEF4B6EF8863.html. (Page 10 in the PDF manual.)

I can't recall offhand whether that shows in non-radar modes but I would think so from the manual. If it remains off I'd call Garmin to troubleshoot.

I had the 5212 and was able to display targets on the chart screen so I don't see why you can't do it on your model. Can't remember where to do it, but most likely in settings or configurations.

I'm onboard now and confirm seeing AIS on charts
Try looking at this sequence:

Menu
Navigation Chart menu (if needed)
Layers
Other Vessels

Can turn AIS display from there. If that's not showing it, I would check:

Home
Settings
Communications
NMEA 2000 Setup
Device List

And see if the AIS source is listed. Then:

Settings
Other Vessels
AIS --> On

If that doesn't show or work, then I'd call Garmin. Good luck!
