Hi all, before I give garmin a call I figured I would check with everyone here. I have a Garmin7412 with the US All & Canadian West Coast HXUS604X - G3 chip installed. As far as I can tell I have all the latest updates as I connect my chartplotter and all through the active captain app on my phone.

The issue I am having is when I pick a spot on the map and select "auto Guidance" in the past it would then calculate the route and then give the option to Start Navigation and then the option "do you want to engage auto pilot". Everything is working except that last step of engaging autopilot.

Any thoughts? Its almost as the chartplotter has lost its pairing with the autopilot but i can still manual engage autopilot but not to engage the calculated route.

I had something similar, but in my case the detailed depths on my chart also disappeared along with the ability to navigate a route. Popping out the chip, giving it a quick rub, then putting it back in fixed my problem.

There is another very recent thread on this if you search. I personally suspect one of Garmin’s latest updates is messing with some people’s chartplotters. Just a hunch, but I noticed mine doing the same thing you describe after installing an update. The solution that fixed at least one unit was to restore to factory defaults. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m cautiously optimistic.

Grr.. thanks John. not sure how i missed that thread but thats exactly my issue. I will continue posting in that thread. But yes I agree with you in that it must have to do with the garmin software.
