I have a RT31CB that had the problem with the problem with the autopilot pump valves leaking by. Got up with Garmin and they sent out a new pump. The new pump cam with 3 new fittings. There are 5 connections on the pump so I’m short 2 fittings. Called Garmin and they said they only recommend 3 line connections not 5. They would not send extra fittings for this application.
So the problem is these are some real odd ball fittings SEA-5 orb x 3/8 . Four different hydraulic shops to me no go. I can’t use the fittings from the original pump as they are 3/8 and will not fit. Don’t know if the RT factory folks modified the pump manifold or if old pumps had different size fittings.
Anybody have this problem? Do I need to redo the hydraulic lines as per Garmin’s recommendation?

If the factory could chime in on there choice of setup of a 5 line system instead of the 3 line recommended by Garmin.

Scott, The Garmin manual shows a not recommended install using a 5 fitting install. It does work. My pump was connected that way. I called Garmin when I was having issues with the Shadow drive. The Technician asked what type of install I had. I told him it had 5 hoses coming off the pump. He told me that wasn't the problem with the shadow drive improperly working but it could result in possibly damaging the pump and I should change it to T-fittings. Here is a picture of T-fitting install. My short memory says the T- fittings were 1/4 NPT with ( 2 )-3/8 compression connections. You have the ORB instead of the NPT. A marina that does boat and engine repair should have the fittings, common hydraulic fittings for boats, Fisheries supplies has the ORB fittings.

The old pump had the 3/8 but like you said the new are the orb. I’ll try a yard instead of hydraulic shop.
Thanks

Scott
