Have you updated to IOS 7 which came out yesterday ? No problems here ........ Yet . Tried several tests .

Yes.... running Bluechart on my iPhone 5 w/iOS7 installed and clicking on Search the App crashes. Suggest you click send report to Garmin as requested. I'll do same.... 😉

See below...

Looks like it is IOS7 creating the problem!! Worked fine with IOS 6!!

Also have Navionics.. They already updated to IOS 7..

Garmin had better get going with up date!!

It will also crash immediately under iOS 7 when selecting/clicking Settings on my iPhone 5. 🙁

I agree, it's iOS 7 related.

Probably iOS 7 issue it has started happening since I updated my operating system on both iPhone and iPad.

Answer from Garmin

Dear Michael Rizzo,

Thank you for contacting Garmin International. Happy to help.

Unfortunately, we have not yet released a new version of BlueChart Mobile is iOS7 ready. Since you have already updated your operating systems, there's nothing else that can currently be done until we do release the new version. I do not have a time frame on when that might occur, so all I can suggest is to keep an eye on the app store for updates to BCM in the future.

Please let me know if you have further questions and I'll be more than happy to assist.
With Best Regards,

Dathan

So Garmin dropped the ball. I bet we'll have to buy an update. Nice.
Thanks for posting the response Mike.

Let's not be too hard on Garmin as there are 100s if not 1000s of iPhone Apps that have not been upgraded to be compatible with iOS7. Since Apple is so secretive about their new products and software as well as when they might release them to the general public we all should cut some slack for these App vendors.

As we all should know, having a single computer program that provides navigational aids is a recipe for disaster, so having some redundancy is essential.

For some of us I suspect we have multiple Apple mobile devices... and given this it would make sense to only upgrade one of them to check things out before upgrading them all.

My sister in law tried upgrading her iPad in the UK over the weekend and she ran into all sorts of problems and ended up having her iPad unusable. Not sure what all she did, but she's now at her local Apple Store getting things sorted out.

As much as I like iOS7, it's not without issues, so my advice to others is to wait for 7.1 and check with other early adopters before leaping, so to speak.

Mike,

Just downloaded Garmins update for IOS7!!

Looks like problem resolved!!

Wilkie: Yes, the v1.4 does resolve the issue posted here. However, Garmin's list of things fixed with v1.4 doesn't make any mention of the crash being resolved !!!!

On my iPhone 5 with iOS 7 running, the BlueChart is very much more responsive compared to iOS 6.... so much so, that it does things in the blink of an eye. The iOS 7 performance improvements are very significant for many of the things done on the iPhones as well as on the iPad. Mind you, not all older iPhone and iPad models can take full advantage of this, and some cannot even be upgraded to iOS 7.
