Ethan, the pump cost is between 1000.00 and 1300.00 depending on the installer. The Auto check valve kit which needs to be used in a Ranger or it will fail again. 250.00 to 300.00 again depending on the installer and his/her mark up. If the installation was never changed from the factory install. It will require some special hydraulic fittings. I did change mine over after the first year of owning my boat and purchased them though a dealer. I paid around 30.00 to 40.00 for tee fittings.
Labor is what ever they charge!! If you don't like what they charge as I never do. Do it yourself, you can't beat that price! If I was billing it out using my Hydraulic power punch pump ( cost around 1000.00 )to make the job go faster and help clean and bleed the complete system. 1 hour labor for flushing the system, 1 hour labor for bleeding the system. This labor would include setting up the purge system and flushing the system and purging the air out. I would charge for 1 gallon of Hydraulic fluid $70 to $100. 1 hour labor to Remove and replace the pump. 1/2 hour labor for install of the auto check kit and fittings. 1 additional hour labor because it is a Ranger Tug a PIA to work on.
Average cost of parts
1150.00 pump
275.00 auto check valve kit
Shop supplies (fittings, sealants, rags, 50.00
hydraulic fluid 85.00
3.5 hours @ 120 hr 420.00
1980.00
I would estimate 1700.00 to 2100.00 would be the going rate. Unless there are other issues and troubleshooting time involved in the job. The price would be higher.
I though you sold Liberty. We stopped at my families house in Alabama on the way back from SWF. We went to the Oyster Bar and saw Liberty tied up there on the ICW. Was that you? I thought it was new owners. Good luck with your project!
