Hello all,
So I pulled the Garmin top to the depth finder and the gasket was missing. I replaced the gasket by purchasing a new one and yet the fluid continues to leak out. I must be placing the gasket incorrectly. Does it just slip over the bottom of the piece that pulls out and rides up? Does it just lay on the bottom of the receiving end?

The o-ring is placed on the cap use a small amount of Vaseline on the o-ring. Fill the cup half full then place a paper towel around the outside of the cup install the transducer. The paper towel will capture most of the over flow . Clean up around the cup after the instal and make sure it is completely dry. This will help find the leak if there is one in the future.

We had the same issue with the transducer housing leaking. My wife pulled on the housing with her bare hands and it came right out. The black sealant material (not sure what was used) didn't adhere to the housing at all. In fact, the housing came out completely clean while the sealant stayed on the hull. I cleaned all the old sealant off the hull, then used Loctite PL Marine adhesive sealant, and it seems to work well. This supposedly adheres to plastic, which the factory adhesive sealant did not. I should have found this thread earlier with the linked video, as that clearly answers what material to use (clear silicone adhesive sealant) and how to apply it (use thick layer of silicone and don't press too hard when setting the mount so that you can keep a decent layer of cured sealant which can help absorb vibration).

Helpful thread. Just wish the factory used a better sealant originally so we wouldn't have this issue!
