I've been trying to figure out this remote for the autopilot.
I noticed that it displays when the autopilot is powered on.
When the autopilot is off the remote displays lost signal and the display is constantly on.
Should the remote turn off? If so how?
I have the manual for it and it does not mention how it turns on or off.
I would think with the display constantly on it will drain the batteries.
Any info is appreciated.

The GHP 10 can use a GHC 10 Remote for wireless controls of the autopilot. The remote requires two AA batteries. If the batteries are dying quickly, locking the remote will help conserve the battery life. To lock the remote, press the Lock button. When the remote is locked, the backlight will timeout quicker than when it is unlocked. This will reduce the drain of the batteries.

Locking the remote will cause all buttons other than the MOB to be non-functional. The MOB button can still be pressed at anytime. If any button other than the MOB button is pressed the remote will beep.

To unlock the remote, press the Lock button one more time. The remote will be back to full functionality.

I'll try the lockout button next time out.
I had tried that button but perhaps did not wait long enough for it to time out, they don't say how long it should take.

I have never "locked" the remote and the batteries last about a year with almost daily use. It always reminds me when it is time to change the batteries. Some things do not require a lot of analyzing...just change the batteries when the thing that is smarter than me, tells me.

I too find the batteries last for a year Mine turns on automatically when I engage the autopilot then goes off when I disengage . There is a reset to factory settings I have gone to on the main controller when ever something gets buggy
