Geico-BoatUS is the least expensive insurance by far that I found. Don’t ask how much my insurance is since you need to compare apples to apples.
Almost 50% less than my max quote from other companies. 25% less than my current AAA-Safeco policy. Call # on towboatUS card. You need to talk to a human to get a truly custom policy. Don’t try it on internet. Actual real agents are available until 10 pm EST. TowboatUS towing of approx $175 yearly is already in the insurance policy, yet only covers one boat, not any boat you are on. So if you only need towing on one boat, don’t renew towboatUS. No refund if cancelled. Bill to credit card for credit card bonus points or cash back. Car policy adds additional boat discount. I am not your typical boat guy, I try to find good deals without being “cheap”.

Beware: Make sure it's a "Yacht" policy. If it is not, you might be comparing apples to oranges. Curious to hear if it is.

Not sure what a yacht policy is:
My “marine insurance binder” contains;
- Hull and equipment
- Tow and Assistance
- Boating liability
- Fuel spill $1,076,000
- Medical payments
- Uninsured Boater

I just found out that by law, our size of boat is never liable for more than $1,076,000 oil spill.

B&jsrubiconii: I will send you a PM. We might know each other.

I tried a price check with Geico late last year.
I spoke with a Geico rep on the phone for about two hours going over my current “Yacht” policy with Travelers and getting pricing from Geico for the exact same coverages and deductibles. Some coverage amounts Geico couldn’t match because my coverage amounts with Travelers were so high. All in all, for just slightly less coverage levels, Geico came in at about $50 a year less on a $1,400 annual policy premium.
The OP listed six areas of coverage he has with Geico. I don’t remember exactly how many line items I went over with Geico but I think it was closer to 30 different coverage limits.
I like to save money too. But I don’t want to be underinsured. I stayed with Travelers. But I must say that the Geico rep I spoke to was great!

Sounds like you went straight to Geico. Try going thru BoatUs. I did not deal directly with Geico at all. I think BoatUS gets a huge discount.

Actually, I started with BoatsUS. I’ve been a Boats U member for several decades. After a few minutes on that call it was clear to us both that I needed to speak to the underwriters at Geico’s marine division to get the coverages I was asking about. We spend over 1/2 of our 45-50 nights cruising in Canadian waters. The BoatUS policy isn’t really designed for someone who spends a lot of time cruising in Canada and needs full coverage in all aspects (especially towing) while in Canada.
