My 5kw Cummins Onan generator does not have any anodes, and confirmed through Cummins tech support doesn't need any.
I was wondering why. Is it not subject to stray currents or galvanic cells like the engine?
I have a friend with the same generator, but several years older. He had to replace his mixing elbow ($600 part) due to perforation. Would zincs have helped prevent this, or is this a different type of corrosion.
Please, any thoughts on why the anodes are not needed and why the mixing elbow failed?
Thanks,
