How do you change the belt on the generator? The back cover cannot be removed to access the belt.

Assuming it is the Cummins (like mine) -
Fasten the cabin step in the upright position (or remove it)
Unscrew the riser front of the cabin step and remove..
It is tight but you should be able to remove the cover and belt from there (haven't had to do mine yet)
Andrew may have more insight into this...

Hello Charlie,

I have not changed the belt on the MASE 2.5KW genset. MASE stopped production on the 2.5 and now provides a 2.7kw. It is configured a bit differently so I do not have a 2.5kw I can look at here at the factory. If you can send me some photos to my direct email @ andrewcustis@rangertugs.com I might be some more help on this one. Thanks!

When i changed the belt on our 2008 R25 ( Mase 2.5) i had to remove the back wall of the "Cave" there are 2 allen screws that hold the Genset cover on that i could find no way to remove except by taking out the aft wall. there is another Allen screw on the outboard side of the cover that must be removed as well. After removing the cover it is pretty straight forward, the belt tensioner to lossen it up is part of the bracket that holds the Sea water pump in place. if you look from the side you will see the arraingement. I don't remember exactly the size of the fasteners but it is pretty obvious once you get the cover off.
Hope this helps

Rich

Thanks Rich! You are correct about this. I think the generator belt is on the forward side which would make sense to remove that panel to the mid cabin to access.

Ahhh jeez... I gotta learn to read - "generator" belt... <forehead smack>
